I\u2019m not really growing.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s a conversation I\u2019ve had many times as a recruiter \u2014 and it\u2019s often the first sign that someone has <strong>quietly outgrown their role<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not because they\u2019ve failed \u2014 but because they\u2019ve mastered it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you&#8217;ve been feeling restless, but can&#8217;t quite define why, here are some signs you may have outgrown your position:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1. Mastery has replaced challenge.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What once stretched your skills now feels automatic. Instead of building new capabilities, you\u2019re refining the ones you already have.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2. Your impact feels capped.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019re doing great work \u2014 but the real transformation or next-level opportunities seem to happen elsewhere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>3. Strategic conversations are happening without you.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019re informed, but not involved. Others are steering the bigger decisions about growth, innovation, or direction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>4. You\u2019re focused more on mentoring than innovating.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While coaching others is rewarding, you realize your own technical or leadership development has stalled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>5. You daydream about bigger problems.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You catch yourself thinking about larger-scale initiatives, broader business challenges, or leadership roles that stretch your thinking in new ways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Recognizing it is the first step. Acting on it is the next.<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In the case of the leader I mentioned, we worked together to find a new opportunity \u2014 one that demanded fresh thinking, expanded their leadership scope, and reignited their professional growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It wasn\u2019t an easy decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But a few months after making the move, they told me:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>&#8220;It\u2019s the first time in years I feel like I\u2019m learning again \u2014 not just delivering.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At senior levels, growth doesn\u2019t always come with loud signals. Sometimes it starts with a quiet feeling:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There\u2019s more you&#8217;re capable of.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And it\u2019s time to find it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>If this resonates, it might be time to ask yourself:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Where do you want to grow next?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>P.S.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019re starting to wonder whether it\u2019s time for a new challenge, I\u2019m always happy to be a sounding board.
