This is a pivotal moment. The hiring manager likely sees a lot of potential in you\u2014but they\u2019ve zeroed in on one area of hesitation. How you respond can make or break the opportunity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First: This Isn\u2019t a Fatal Flaw\u2014But It <\/strong>Is<\/em><\/strong> a Test<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This kind of concern doesn\u2019t usually mean you’re fundamentally unqualified\u2014like missing a required certification or never having led a team. Instead, it typically shows up when your experience seems a bit light in a specific domain: maybe your Kubernetes experience is more peripheral than hands-on, or you\u2019ve led two large migrations but haven\u2019t managed a full data center exit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The key is recognizing that this is a calculated objection<\/em>, not a disqualifier. And it\u2019s your chance to redirect the conversation toward your full value.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to Tackle It Like a Leader<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before any interview\u2014especially at the senior level\u2014do your prep from the company\u2019s point of view. What\u2019s their biggest technical challenge right now? What capabilities are they likely to prioritize for this role? 1. Acknowledge the importance of the skill or domain<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Don\u2019t dismiss it or dance around it. Show that you understand why it matters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
